Beckman Scholars Program

Beckman Scholar Matthew Torres '01 with Dr. Arnold Beckman at the 2000 Annual Beckman Scholars Symposium in Irvine, California.

The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation supports scientific education and research through a variety of programs including the Beckman Scholars Program, designed to stimulate, encourage and support research activities by exceptionally talented undergraduates.

The Beckman Scholars Program provides research expense and stipend support for one academic year and two summers for selected undergraduates in the biological and biomedical sciences and chemistry (participating departments and programs: Biology, MB&B, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering).

Awards are normally made to sophomores to support research during a period extending from the summer following the sophomore year through the summer following the junior year. In exceptional cases, an award may be made to a junior who commits to a research program extending from the summer following the junior year through the summer following the senior year.

Applications for the 2012-2013 Beckman Scholars Program are available online. For further information about the Beckman Scholars Program, please contact Dean William Segraves.
