The program seeks to create a network of support for 200 first-year students. This network is bolstered by strong undergraduate student collaborations; social events; faculty, and peer mentorship, and a focus on sustaining interest and motivation to pursue a STEM major.
At the core of the STARS I Program are the upper-level peer mentors, who foster tight-knit groups amongst the students in order to promote a richer first year experience. In addition to regular peer mentor group meetings and one-on-one advising, the program offers a series of panel discussions, informational sessions, professional development, and networking opportunities, led by upper-level students, graduate students and or faculty. The application will open July 1, 2024 to incoming first-years. The final application deadline is Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11:00PM ET.
If you are accepted into the STARS I Program, you must participate in 100% of the workshops and activities offered each semester. Failure to do so will result in your dismissal from the program.
